Strong Moms
5.7.26
Last week my trainer asked if I was coming in on Friday because he’s running a “Strong Moms” campaign around Mother’s Day and wanted to take some photos.
This mom never turns down a photo op, so it inspired me to get up and out for an early small group training session at 8am.
I never regret going to a session, and I’m always up early anyway. After class, I asked if we could take a picture of me actually doing an exercise instead of just standing there.
I love the result. I think my joy is evident.
Also—look at my hair.
I scheduled my first haircut for the end of the month and, in the meantime, treated myself to some product to tame my post-chemo wild hair.
Over the last few weeks, several people have stopped me when I’m out and about to compliment the cut. Most are surprised when I tell them it’s from chemo, and it’s led to some really touching conversations.
I hope my girls are proud of how I’ve committed to myself through this battle. I hope they see self-care not as selfishness, but as an investment in my future—and theirs.
I’m a strong mom, a wife—and maybe someday (no rush!)—a grandmother.
Strong. Like this.
